    Description

SD253-10 Green Opal Dry Cone 5 Mid-Range Glaze by Mayco Colors in 10-Pound Dry form.

Stoneware classic glazes offer the depth, sophistication and reliability to artists working from mid-range to high-fire temperatures.

Opals are beautiful glazes for dinnerware due to its glossy, smooth finish.

This glaze is great on texture and will break over high texture and pool into crevices.

Cone 6: Green Opal achieves a vibrant chartreuse gloss when fired. Lighter applications lead to a semi-opaque yellow-green; heavier applications see the formation of a green float.

Cone 10: Color lightens; becomes more transparent.

TIP: Darker clay bodies, such as buff and brown, display the phosphorescent qualities of Green Opal.

On manganese bodies, Green Opal will interact with manganese bodies, creating interesting brown streaks.

Thinner application will provide a glossy transparent finish.

Thicker application will provide light green floating.

Surface decoration will be visible under the glaze, but if you apply the glaze thick, it could blur your image. and pool into crevices.

    Mixing Instructions:

Due to the manufacturing process, Mayco Stoneware Dry Glazes do not require sieving.

All you need to do to use our dry-mix glazes is add water, shake, stir and DIP.

Tumble the bag prior to initial opening, which will remix the ingredient in case of settling during shipping.

Water to dry material ratio is 16 oz. water to 1 pound of material.

Add dry mix to water. Always use a NIOSH approved respirator when mixing dry materials.

You will love the sheeting action when dipping and be pleased to find that our dry-mix glazes will not settle out in your storage bucket.

Whether dipping or spraying: let previous coat dry before applying additional coats.

    Fire to cone 5/6.
